Our client provides strategic market insights for the retail banking industry in the Asia Pacific. The firm produces data-supported reports about payments, deposits, lending, SMEs,risk management, transactional banking, and especially technologies within banks. The firm has three main businesses: Research, Trainings, and Forums.
Business Development Associate
Our client is looking for experienced people to join our business development team in Hong Kong. This person's main responsibility is developing sales leads and closing deals for our retail banking research (Wealth management, private banking, transactional banking, payments, and technology reports), trainings and roundtables across Southeast Asia, Africa and/or Greater China. The candidate will dive into emerging Southeast markets and aid banks by providing them with competitive intelligence on retail banking and having them attend some of our world class trainings for top level bankers, including CROs, CIOs, CEO, directors and senior managers. These candidates will be working in a fast pace environment as they communicate and cross sell with current clients and dig into new markets to build new sales leads and close them. This is a special opportunity to join a vibrant and young firm with strong products in the world’s most fascinating markets.
Major Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
- Achieve monthly & quarterly new business targets by selling reports, customized retail banking research, and trainings throughout Asia Pacific, with a focus on Southeast Asia and possibly Africa in the future
- Maintain high product and client knowledge.
- Achieve and exceed cold call, trial and demo activity targets while building connections with them for the future.
- Quote new business figures in accordance with the company pricing policy.
- New business pipeline management
- Improve selling and negotiation skills.
- Attend individual and team meetings to discuss KPI’s and other items relevant to the role.
- Contribute input to wider business issues and direction.
- Provide regular and concise reports on sales performance, progress and priorities.
Compensation will be based on experience and knowledge of the industry. Candidates should be ready to accept a heavily commission/performance based compensation package based on meeting sales objectives that will be directly related to the output of the individual. The compensation package will include components of base salary (Ranges from HKD10,000-20,000 depending on experience in the industry), commission and potentially profit sharing and/or equity for the right individual. This is very much a start-up compensation package and applicants should be confident enough in their abilities to take a high-risk, high-reward role.
Desired Skills and Experience
We are seeking candidates who demonstrated a wide variety of business development skills, mainly being in closing deals, communicating clearly with clients about our services and products, and being able to the lead in new projects and bring new ideas to the table.
We are looking for people with the following skills and talents in Hong Kong:
- 1-5years of experience in sales and business development, especially in financial research and banking trainings, and even forums
- Interest and knowledge in retail banking and the research business
- Knowledge of online information products and services.
- Ability to influence and guide prospect from the beginning to the end
- Ability to gain credibility within a decision maker group
- Ability to build constructive relationships with key individuals
- Self directed and able to take the initiative
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Innovative, dynamic and confident
- Possess efficient time management skills
- Seek to drive improvements in results through new ideas, approaches, knowledge and skills
