Job Description
Our Client:
Our client is one of the leading tanker trading companies originally founded in Europe. They are actively looking to hire an Operation Superintendent who will support their client's smooth cargo/tanker operations in Japan area remotely.
The Responsibilities:
Coordinate all aspects of cargo operations and monitor port agents’ performance in the assigned area (Japan) remotely, from Singapore.
• Supervise and direct port operations with various stakeholders for commercially managed ships to ensure safe and efficient operations in Japan
• Communicate and coordinate with commercial, customer, Terminal and/or port authorities on safe operations of vessels and relevant parties
• Provide local operational expertise and update on port or national legislation, changes, and seasonal notices
• Coordinate domestic T/S operation in Japan
• Maintain operational records within the assigned area in accordance with Global standards
• Maintain constant contact and checks (through Japan Agents and self) in building relations with Terminals, Customers and Port authorities to ensure a good working relationship
• Proposing Continuous improvements and operational excellence
• Assist with commercial activities and queries at the request of Chartering. Provide assistance at customer meetings
• Monitoring of port agent performance in Japan
• Coordinate AGM inspections for deep sea service vessels in the Far East ports during the high-risk season
The Requirements:
• Minimum Diploma or Degree in Science or Technical in the college or university or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years of experience in chemical related industry in terminal, survey or shipping related company, or 3 years of sea experience as a Tanker Deck Officer holding Class 3 Certificate of Competency
• Good knowledge of charter parties, chemical cargoes, chemical surveying, regulations in Chemical Marine Industry, Japan Port regulations, ship operations and quality improvement process
• Demonstrate strong leadership skills, self-motivating, and ability to work as a team across different cultures
• Able to converse well in both oral and written Japanese to deal with native Japanese-speaking counterparts
