Job Description

Our client is one of the leading fortune 500 Electronics Manufacturer in providing OEM/ODM Electronics parts for Communications, Computing, Healthcare, Military, Aerospace and Industrial Automation.


Function: Directly report to VP Engineering HK DCoE
The position is responsible to manage a Design Engineering Team to deliver products that meet or exceed customer expectations on time and cost, to meet factory expectation on manufacturability and quality. Purpose of the job is to meet company goals on revenue growth and quality and maintain a leadership position in the power supply industry while managing and overseeing staff in HK/China to achieve departmental.


Job Descriptions:

1.Provide regular report and updates on the performance of project and design team activities to management, direct and indirect superior. (25%)

  • Provide regular updates on design team capability to support supervisor on engineering slot meeting
  • Provide presentation on the measurement of the project cost, on-time delivery, progress performance and new project status in HK/CDE engineering review
  • Participate in NPI to monitor and solve issues on BOM cost, scheduling and outstanding issues
  • Participate regularly in Cost and Technology Summit
  • Suggest and plan future improvement activities; commit programs and activities
  • Analyze BOM cost of RFQ against pilot stage for each model
  • Analyze and perform pareto analysis on the causes of program delays
  • Provide program status updates to management
  • Provide organization/team capability and availability to take on new programs and tasks
  • Give comments and suggestions on new engineering procedures
  • Suggest innovative ideas and cost reduction initiatives
  • Plan and organize product and team improvement activities


2.Manage and oversee design staff in HK/China. (40%)


  • Provide design support direction and supervision on the daily activities of the design team
  • Monitor staff to ensure they comply with company policies, engineering procedures, internal & external customer requirements and budget/cost constraints
  • Support, guide and train team for growth to maintain technical/cost competence and competitive
  • Provide technical guidance to the team
  • Assign and allocate programs to different design staff
  • Assign RFQ to design staff
  • Provide direction on product development
3.Provide customer support. (29%)


  • Attend customer QBR and program meetings regularly as appropriate
  • Provide Technical proposal, Cost effective solution and Qualification procedure
  • Support customer on programs and RFQs
  • Meet existing and new customers; provide presentation on the product/technology roadmap and team capability
  • Meet customers for regular QBR as to address issue and understand new future requirements/expectation
  • Meet and Attend conference calls to get adequate support, service, communication, technical support and commitment in projects


4.Monitor and track engineering BOM savings activities. (5%)


  • Work with Finance to provide BOM CR data analysis; monitor BOM CR progress
  • Work with different product design directors for BOM saving issues


5.Other Duties. (1%)

  • Support and provides opinion on intellectual property, patent applications, technical direction in other product areas
 


Job Requirements:


  • Degree in Electronics or related discipline
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in the Industry
  • Experience with Manufacturing Engineering Management & Supervisory Techniques
  • Sound knowledge in Computer Aided Design, Power Conversion & Switching Mode Power Supply, Quality & Cost Concepts
  • Have leadership, communication, decision-making, teamwork building, problem solving ability
